The pumpkin designs of our premium series start with an underlay of enamel white glass much like a painter starts with a white canvas. Then various layers of enamel colors are added and finished with a lustrous fume, giving these pumpkins a more opaque look.
Jack Pine's pumpkins are well-known for their unique layering of colored glass, strong saturation of colors and his unique finishing techniques, producing works with a mother-of-pearl, iridized, lustrous appearance. No paint is used in his work; rather, he uses raw materials imported from Germany as well as the technique of using precious metals such as gold and silver impregnated into the glass to give it a lustrous appearance.
