You`ll treasure these finely crafted, uniquely finished boxes of painted MDF and hardwoods from the studio of Ingela Noren and Daniel Grant. A three step process consisting of a base coat of paint or sealing stain, a layer of casein emulsion (usually buttermilk and pigments), and final coats of lacquer are all that`s needed to reveal the exquisite artistry of these two very talented craftspeople. The pigment glaze is applied and manipulated through the use of various tools- stippling brushes, sponges, combs, rags, even the artists` fists and fingers- and the lacquer finish provides protection for and luster to the artwork.
While the shape of all these boxes is identical, there are several artistic styles from which to choose. We`ve pictured one of each pattern as an example, but no two boxes will ever be exactly alike due to the hand application process. Colors may vary slightly from those pictured.
