Mikutowski Woodworking produces wooden boxes that exemplify the studio’s commitment to excellence in design, function and craftsmanship. Under the direction of Mike Mikutowski, the finest in domestic and exotic hardwoods are chosen. His passion is to create a design in which the natural luster and rich grain of the woods can be blended to form beautiful contrasts.

Mike Mikutowski began working with wood and other materials while still in high school. His first business venture was in constructing custom-fit goalie masks for hockey goaltenders. He was commissioned to make the mask worn by the USA Olympic Goaltender in the 1984 Olympic Games.

In 1986 Mike began his full time career in woodworking and design and has continually excelled in his field. He has been honored with numerous awards and his articles have been published in Fine Woodworking magazine. He was commissioned to design and make the memorial urns presented by President Bush to the families of the victims of the September 11, 2001 attack on the Pentagon.

Mikutowski Woodworking is also committed to raising environmental awareness and minimizing waste. Boxes are designed to generate very little unusable scrap wood. Any wood that is determined to be unusable is donated to the local community schools, nursing homes, and elderly services programs for art and craft education.
