Loren Lukenss color palette is deep and rich, often with overlaying glazes. He can nuance combinations of matte, and gloss and tie it all together with linear elements. This artist seems to enjoy "tweaking" the expected. His forms are often altered or elements of a form diminished or emphasized for maximum impact. Lukens has been a professional potter for over 30 years. His work has been selected for special exhibitions from coast to coast as well as Japan. He has published in professional ceramic publications as well as serving as a ceramics instructor twice in his long career. His continually evolving work is influenced by experimentation, study and travel.
